In the heart of the splendid Nirasca, in Pieve di Teco, is born the Ormeasco di Pornassio D.O.C. – twenty-year selection “Nirasco”, a wine that represents the authentic essence of the Ligurian territory. Sourced from a single plot, the Villai vineyard, located at 800 meters of altitude, this red wine is the result of a long winemaking tradition, combining the wisdom of the past with meticulous care in the present.
The vines, with an average age of 30 years, are cultivated using the Guyot system, in an environment characterized by a mountainous microclimate that gives the grapes a unique aromatic profile. The harvest, which takes place in October, marks the moment when the grapes are perfectly ripe to create a wine with great structure and longevity. Traditional vinification, with skin contact, allows maximum extraction from the grapes, which are then aged for 12 months in small wooden barrels (barriques and tonneaux), with a minimum of 2 months of bottle aging to further refine the product.
On the nose, Ormeasco di Pornassio D.O.C. – twenty-year selection “Nirasco” stands out for its complex and enveloping bouquet: intense fruity notes of cherry and berries intertwine with spicy accents, creating a rich and captivating aromatic profile reminiscent of the mountainous landscapes of the area.
On the palate, the wine presents itself as dry, warm, and persistent, with a robust structure that is balanced by an elegant softness. Aging in wood further enhances the wine's complexity, providing silky tannins and a long-lasting taste that evolves pleasantly over time. A wine suited for remarkable aging, improving further with the years.
